What is the Pinhole Surgical Technique?

The Pinhole Surgical Technique is a way to repair receding gums. The pinhole procedures requires only a small a pinhole in the gum so there is no need for cutting or grafting which significantly reduces discomfort and healing time.

How Does Pinhole Surgical Technique Treat Receding Gums?

Dr. Kivett will create a tiny pinhole using a small needle and use special tools to gently massage the gum tissue down. This technique causes very little trauma to the gums and leaves no open wounds. The gums are held in place using collagen strips. These strips, along with the natural blood supply of the body, will promote the regeneration of more collegian. The process is minimally invasive and the healing process is so fast that it can be difficult to tell that a procedure has been done as early as the very next day.

How Long Has the Pinhole Surgical Technique Been Used?

The pinhole procedure has been used since 2006 and was published in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry (a very well respected journal in dentistry).

How long will the results last?

The results are expected to permanent and comparable to traditional procedures. Normal aging can still cause recession like it did before the procedure, but if a patient is careful not to over-brush and treat their gums well it should last years.
